|Mighty Joe Young
||UK door panel - 20"x60"
|Notes: Impossibly rare survivor from post second world war austerity years in Britain when the paper drives led to almost all used paper being recycled. Door panels were made in very small numbers and, because they were pasted up, hardly any survived - it's very likely this is the only one left. Mighty Joe Young was an entertaining slant on "King Kong" by Kong's creators, Cooper and Schoedsack that was much better than Kong's 1934 sequel, "Son of Kong", which was hurriedly made. The creators put a lot more thought and effort into this worthy follow-up and it shows. More superb special effects from Willis O'Brien as technical director, featuring the budding talents of protege, Ray Harryhausen.
